Human Revenant C

This is the second of the revenant enemy class you encounter in Defiance Remastered, labeled Revenant C. This is the second level of human ones before they move on to the vampire and Hylden corpses. The Hylden are the banished enemy race that infiltrates the world by possessing corpses to attack Raziel in the game. This is a far older, longer dead corpse, at the levels of dried-out mummies. Musty, dusty, dried husks. The original model was in this vein, though with a stylized look. It had a basic skull and a little bit of flesh on some bones, with some boots and a bit of an arm bracer as their attire. I kept that as the basis for their attire, only adding some tattered rags for the remnants of clothing. Both this and the corpse Raziel uses to emerge into the Physical Realm with are made from the same sculpt, and with mostly the same texturing. I varied these guys up from that in making them a bit thicker, more square-jawed, broader shoulders (needed anyway to fit the rig) and more sinister-looking and a bit less moldy.

While they don’t get the cinematic intro treatments as the Revenant A versions, they would possibly be even more terrifying to see in real life. At least, that was the goal when making them.

This version also can be TK-tossed onto torches, where they will burn and then explode into pieces upon death. The original just had pieces of the Revenant A explode. No fire damage, no burning. It’s definitely noticeable in higher resolutions now. I’ve updated this to be parts of this husk charred and burning, so they really look like the fire makes them explode. You can see that in the images below. This was one of the issues we ran into, trying to figure out what activates in circumstances like this and how to update them on HD models. For this effect lasting only a few seconds in the game, these model parts run just under 40 pieces all emanating from the world origin, so it took a little effort to get right.
